PACKVISION LG Returnable Container Inspection

Inspection System

PACKVISION LG Returnable Container Inspection

Inspect returnables in crates to help prevent disruption at the unpacker

PACKVISION LG checks returnables before unpacking for covers, protruding bottles and other conditions that can interfere with the unpacking process.

Application

Returnable crates ready for unpacking

Covers, nested bottles and foreign bottles can interfere with unpacking. PACKVISION LG inspects bottles and crates before the unpacker for these conditions, residual closures and damaged handles. The PACKVISION family system can be extended with crate identification, crate-logo inspection and Deep Learning for additional identification tasks.

Operating principle

Optical depth measurement before unpacking

The STEREO inspection bridge uses two cameras to capture depth information for returnable container inspection, including bottles standing too high or protruding from the crate. Crate referencing and software-supported calibration help maintain consistent checks without an additional ultrasound array for the height tasks captured optically. The optional Deep Learning module combines FRESNEL imaging and underfloor illumination with teach-in for content classification. A communication module can transfer inspection results to the unpacker for selective unpacking.

PACKVISION LG Returnable Container Inspection - Benefits

Benefits

  • Early detection of covers and obstructing bottles helps prevent interruptions at the unpacker.
  • Height differences captured optically can be checked without an additional ultrasound array.
  • Reference measurement and calibration support consistent results as crate positions vary.
  • Optional crate and content classification provides additional information for selective unpacking and sorting tasks.
  • The compact, modular design supports retrofitting existing lines.
  • Application-specific modules extend the base inspection with logo, UV and Deep Learning tasks.
